Our Speed Recognition course is aimed at drivers who have gained speeding points on their licence and might need guidance on how to change their habits to prevent them losing their licence. This one-to-one course is split into theory and practical sessions, with a focus on preventing the driver succumbing to further speeding offences and endorsements.
The initial theory session will last 1 hour and assess the delegate’s knowledge of why we have speed limits in place, gain an understanding of what limits apply to which roads, knowing the speed limits for different vehicles and understand why some limits are being lowered.
The practical element of the course is overseen by one of the professional coaches who will assess the delegate’s identification of speed limits and their ability to drive within the legal limit. Various tips and techniques will be discussed and practiced with the specific aim of making it easier for the delegate to comply with limits, to reduce their chances of reoffending.
Personal Plan – the course concludes with the coach and driver reviewing the driver’s achievements and collaboratively developing an ongoing driving plan.
The coach will set improvement goals during the post training feedback session to give the delegate targets to reduce their exposure to risk.
Duration – half day or full day The half-day session will introduce the driver to coping strategies and some training techniques that may be developed further through personal practice.
The full day course will give the driver extensive practical experience of developing better speed control and coping strategies to prevent inadvertent speeding.
