Where does training take place?

Our dedicated training room is part of our recruitment centre at 1a, Longman Road, Inverness. If you’re travelling to Inverness for your training, there is limited on-site parking at the office. However, there are normally plenty of places to leave your car in the adjoining streets.

Who does the training?

All our Driver CPC trainers, Alec Kidd and Bill Rennie, are working drivers. The owner of Driver Hire Inverness, Mark Astley-Jones also leads Driver CPC training courses and, like Alec and Bill is an HGV-licence holder. All of which means that your Driver CPC training will be delivered by trainers with a vast experience of driving and because they are all working driver, knowledge of the specific challenges of driving professionally around the Highlands and Islands.

Alec Kidd: Before joining Driver Hire nine years ago, Alec was an on-call fire officer. He then moved into fire service training before becoming Head of Fire Safety. He’s been delivering Driver CPC training courses at Driver Hire Inverness for the past four years.

Bill Renny: Bill’s logistics and warehousing experience covers three decades and includes a stint as RAF warehouse supervisor on the Falkland Islands. He’s still a working driver. Whilst in the Army he was an ammunitions trainer. Bill promises that his Driver CPC training will be sparky, but not dangerously explosive!

Mark Astley-Jones: Mark Astley-Jones bought Driver Hire Inverness in 2011. Prior to that, he’d worked in IT, covering a good number of business miles around the Highlands and Islands. He’s also a trained teacher.
