Vehicle Roadworthiness – Available Online

Driver CPC (Available online)

With many hundreds of costly breakdowns occurring every year, the importance of good maintenance and safety checks can not be under-estimated.  Drivers of large vehicles are required to carry out daily walk around checks and ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.

Whilst these checks do not usually take too long, if they are not carried out, the inconvenience and cost can increase enormously, especially if carrying perishable goods or running to a timed schedule – and the implications for road safety are clear.

The 3 ½ hour Vehicle Roadworthiness module covers all the elements of what to check when carrying out the daily walk around, as well as additional checks/information drivers need to be aware of.

Topics covered in the module include:

  • Why vehicle checks have to be completed
  • What checks are required
  • How to properly complete the walk around check
  • Vehicle defect reporting
  • Consequences of non-compliance
  • Personal health checks

Course Objective

The main objectives of the module are to refresh the driver’s knowledge on the importance of the walk around checks, what they should be checking and most importantly, why the checks need to be carried out.  Drivers will also discuss why they should look after their own health and the benefits of some simple health awareness checks to keep them alert and safety conscious whilst driving.
