Other information

Three reasons which make Driver Hire Teesside your first choice
  • An extensive range – nineteen in total – of quality modules
  • High standard post-course reference material – a great reference point
  • Highly experienced trainers
Let’s talk about trainers

We employ two trainers; David Clark and John Taylor. They’re both highly experienced, sharing 70-years industry knowledge both as drivers and trainers.

David Clark runs the majority of our courses. Before joining the Driver Hire team he was a lead driving instructor with North Yorkshire County Council. Whether it was in a car, van or goods vehicle, David helped council drivers hone their driving skills with classroom and practical teaching. Reflecting his wide industry experience and focus on improving driving skills at every level, David is an academy member of Road Safety GB.

If for any reason, David Clark isn’t available for any of our Driver CPC courses, we’re equally lucky to be able to call on another highly experienced trainer, John Taylor. John’s been with us for six years, following a 40-year transport industry career working for a number of providers. A DVSA approved licence acquisition trainer, John is a former HGV driver and, therefore, well placed to offer advice – and first class Driver CPC training.

Where is training based?

We have a dedicated, fully equipped training room, at our office in the Southlands Centre. If it suits you better, and you have suitable facilities, we’re equally happy to come to your depot or premises. That way you can take advantage of our day-rate offer which enables you to train a group of your drivers at once for a flat fee.

When do we run training courses?

We don’t run courses on a fixed day of the week or particular week of the month. Our experience has shown that it’s best to select dates throughout the year that we think will suit you and invite you along.

Getting there

The Southlands Centre offers unlimited free parking. If you’d prefer to let someone else do the driving, buses (service numbers 9 & 36) will drop you within five minutes walking distance.

Food etc. . . .

Trainees can help themselves to tea and coffee and we also provide a plentiful supply of biscuits! However, you will have to find your own lunch. The Southlands Centre has its own cafe where a coffee and a sandwich will set you back around £3. There’s also a wide choice of sandwich and eat out options close at hand.
