Other information

As you know, you must keep up to date with your Driver CPC training to continue working as a professional driver. That’s why Driver Hire Uxbridge offers a wide range of great value Driver CPC training. Pertinent and practical – including essential Bikeright courses – in total we offer 14 Driver CPC modules.

And, there are other good reasons for keeping up to date with your Driver CPC training at Driver Hire Uxbridge; the DVSA’s increased powers to levy roadside penalties –  including back-dated ones. So what you learn during your annual Driver CPC training could save you money. Add in safety and improved driving techniques – and it could save your life.

Training takes place twice a month. You can choose any weekday, Monday – Friday. We also offer weekend training on Saturdays. Our courses take place at our office at the Trade City Business Park in Uxbridge.

Bikeright courses

Improving cycling safety is key element of Transport for London’s strategy. If your company is FORS Silver accredited, your drivers will need to undertake Bikeright training every three years; if you are Gold accredited it’s an annual requirement.

Driver Hire Uxbridge’s Bikeright course is dual accredited, so drivers can use it to cover FORS and their annual Driver CPC training requirement.

Fully risk assessed, your Bikeright course is split between classroom and practical ‘on the road’ experience. You’ll ride about 4 miles over a 2.5 hour period, learning what it feels like to be a cyclist on busy roads, how to deal with roundabouts and other complex road junctions. In the classroom you’ll learn why cyclists riding can appear to be erratic, why they don’t always understand potential dangers and look at collisions and discuss who was at fault.

Our training facilities

Our first rate facilities accommodate up to 20 candidates. We can take 24 people for Bikeright courses. If you prefer, we can come to your depot and train your drivers on site, but you must have suitable training facilities that meet the required criteria.

Getting there

There’s unlimited free parking at the Business Park and, if you can’t find a slot there, there’s plenty of space in the surrounding streets.

There’s also plenty of public transport options. We’re a one mile walk from Uxbridge Tube Station and the mainline railway station at West Drayton. The area is also well served by buses.

If you’re more active and want to cycle, jog or walk to your training destination, we also have shower facilities.

Let’s talk about food!

We provide unlimited free tea, coffee and biscuits during your training. If you’re looking for something more substantial at lunchtime, there’s a cafe on site offering a wide range of food options.

Who does our training

Our main trainer is Laurence Gurney. An ex-Serviceman with the Royal Engineers, Laurence holds a category C+E licence and is a working driver, ensuring that the Driver CPC training he delivers is highly relevant and delivered from a driver’s perspective.

Ed Pockney, owner of Driver Hire Uxbridge, recently completed his Driver CPC ‘train the trainer’ training and is now available to cover courses.
