The logistics industry is at the centre of all our lives, every day and we’re proud of Driver Hire’s role in helping to keep the wheels turning. That’s why we are core sponsors of the Road Haulage Association’s National Lorry Week, to help celebrate what we all do together.
Now into its eighth year, National Lorry Week celebrates the role that lorries play in our everyday lives – as well as the people who drive them and everyone who makes logistics possible.
This years’ campaign features a national roadshow which will see a National Lorry Week-branded DAF lorry cab travel across the UK for four weeks, meeting with RHA members, industry partners, colleges and Government officials along the way.
“It’s important that we come together to celebrate and say thank you for everyone’s hard work,” says Jeremy Neale, Managing Director, Driver Hire Nationwide.
“With everything that has happened over the last couple of years, public awareness of the role road transport plays in all our lives is clearer than ever – we don’t want to lose sight of that as our lives return to normal” he continues.
“Some people still have an old-fashioned view of the industry, whether it’s the vehicles, the technology or even the people. The reality is that our industry is incredibly forward-looking. There are so many exciting innovations and new technologies, whether that’s on the trucks, in the warehouse or the way we organise and manage operations.”
National Lorry Week gets bigger and better each year and Driver Hire has supported the event for a number of years. Logistics is the UK’s fifth largest industry, worth £124bn to the UK economy according to the RHA. It also offers a fantastic range of career options for anyone thinking about their future. As we like to say at Driver Hire, it is “Much More Than Driving”.
In support of last year’s campaign, Gary Riches (Driver Hire Colchester) and Tony Goacher (Driver Hire Croydon & Sutton) aired a special edition of the Driver Hire Podcast, where they spoke to Tom Cornwell of the RHA about the week-long campaign, why drivers love logistics and various fun facts about the sector.
You too can raise awareness of the great contributions that drivers are making to our industry by joining the conversation online, or by visiting and sharing information from our dedicated National Lorry Week pages which includes more about the campaign, careers information, case studies and more.
